Post Card Beautiful Wednsday

Wednesday was a muy beautiful day here in the Yucatan... the kind of day people make post cards of. I am sure that the pictures do not do it justice.. but I hope you can get a flavor for the city.
This morning we all debriefed on our dinners from Tuesday.. I think every one had a great time..and it is definitely a learning experience. Then Jennifer lead us on a devotional that was based on Ephesians 1:4. For he Chose us in Him before the creation to be holy and blameless in his sight. God has a plan for every one.. and all of us on this trip.. so we are all trying to remember that and go along with the ride God has planned for this trip.. And so far that has worked out well!
Today we went to the museum of history.. I could spend a life time studying the history of the Yucatan and its people.. and I would not even scratch the surface. Today's little tidbit is(to debunk what the new Indiana Jones Movie taught us) the ruling class of the Mayans changed the shapes of their heads (by putting babies heads in some type of contraption before the plates in the head become hard) so that the farmers and workers would believe that they were Gods. That is why you see pictures with elongated shaped Mayan heads.. there are a couple other muy interesting tidbits.. ask one of us, and we will tell you some stories!
After the museum we headed to Shalom to have some time of prayer with some of the Staff. If you would like to join in our prayers, please pray for more small group leaders, more people that can lead their worship bands, so that they truly connect with the children they serve, that Genny's mother who lives far away and is not doing well in health is healed and that Gina has can fit all she has to do in her day in a day. We then all prayed and I think it went well.. and that the pray time is translating.
Then we hung about Shalom and had lunch and we all laughed and told stories and connected... and Alan played basketball with the superstar kids.. Diego and Daniella.
We headed back for siestas... and some headed straight to the pool and Greyson, Leslie and I headed to the free art museum in the square and our favorite little shop with the best prices..and when we got back we all were at the pool for a bit to soak in God's glorious day here in Merida before dinner.

And to say that every one had an awesome time at dinner would be an understatement. We all split up again and went to different houses for dinner. Greyson and I (Molly) went to Nancy house to have dinner with the children's ministry leaders, Jennifer and Laura had dinner with the leaders of the singles, and collage, and high school and ministries and Alan and Leslie had dinner with the Married and Lady's leaders.. along with some children ministry people as well.

Greyson and I had an small group of 6 women in total (including us) and we really got to talk a lot about serving with children and the joy and what they teach us and how great it is to work with the group that will be leading the future.. Their pray request were for more leaders and more space and to the move to the 11 am service goes well.. Greyson and I both commented on how similar are pray request were for the children that we all serve.. and how much we all love working with the kids.

Jennifer and Laura also had a great night.. but a much bigger crowd and they had a fabulous time connecting the singles and collage aged ministry leaders.. their prayers included the need for more leaders as more space and for all of the leaders to have a heart of service, and to see their youth's relationships with Christ grow . Laura was also really amazed their passion in the leaders prayer life. That there was a sense of urgency in their prayers..

Alan and Leslie meet with the married and lady's group and they also had similar prayers for more leaders and more time and space. Alan was really struck by how much our Mexican friends
thanked them for coming and that they were having a night of fellowship and pray as they do not get together like this often... and how similar all of our prayer request are.. that we
are all more similar then different. Alan also had a great story about how Shalom church is
teaching other churches in the area about kid stuff and other ministries that we do at
Buckhead.. and how amazing it is that God is everywhere.. and that to see his love grow through relevant ministries is simply awesome.

To sum up the evening of Fellowship and prayer. God was every where in Merida tonight, and we all feel extremely blessed for getting to be a small part of God bigger plan here in Merida.

Alan and Leslie - know that I'm praying for you guys, the team and the requests you mention on the blog. It's really encouraging to hear what God is already doing through you guys! I'm going to propose that we institute the "siesta" thing on my next bosnia trip!! keep the updates coming! Can't wait to hear about it when you return home!
